About Animal Chiropractic

Chiropractic care is an all-natural approach to health for humans and animals alike!  People have sought out chiropractic care for many different reasons, including but not limited to increased disease resistance, improved posture, and better sports performance and movement.  Both human and animal spines house the most important system in the body: the nervous system.  The nervous system consists of our brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves that branch from the spinal cord and go out to the rest of the body.  This allows communication with everything within the body.  It controls every cell, tissue, and organ within our body so that we can function day to day.  The nervous system makes it possible for us to move by sending signals to our skeletal muscle, breathe by sending messages to our lungs and pulmonary system, digest our food by communicating with our gastrointestinal system, and so much more.  If there is interference anywhere along this communication pathway, it will result in dysfunction and a breakdown of the system.  This dysfunction can have many different manifestations depending on what part of the communication has interference.  It can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness, immune suppression, disease, pain, and many other symptoms.  Chiropractic care addresses these interferences to our nervous system, or as we call them subluxations, by using a gentle adjustment to restore the body's ability to function optimally, communicate, and heal from within.

Meet The Doc

Dr. Morgan West McCaskill grew up in the foothills of North Carolina on her family's dairy farm.  She got her first horse at 5 years old and has continued to ride and be a part of the industry ever since.  She continued her path in the animal industry by attending North Carolina State University and receiving a B.S. in Zoology with minors in both Animal Science and Nutrition.  During her senior year at NCSU, she was introduced to animal chiropractic in one of her equine science courses and decided to pursue the career.  She received her Doctorate of Chiropractic for humans from Sherman College of Chiropractic in South Carolina and continued with post graduate training in animal chiropractic in Texas.  Following this training she became a certified animal chiropractor by the Animal Chiropractic Certification Commission (ACCC) of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA).

The AVCA was founded in 1989 by Dr. Sharon Willoughby, DVM, DC, with the purpose of establishing standards of education and practice in the field of animal chiropractic. The AVCA only offers certification in Animal Chiropractic to licensed Chiropractors and Veterinarians, who in turn must satisfy continuing education requirements to maintain a current status. The Animal Chiropractic Certification Commission (ACCC) is the primary national credential for this field in North America. More information about AVCA doctors can be found at AVCAdoctors.com.

Dr. Morgan moved to Wisconsin following her graduation from Sherman College.  In her spare time she enjoys hiking with her husband, Brett, and their two dogs, Zoe and Ace.  She also enjoys spending time with her quarter horse, Dixie.  Dr. Morgan looks forward to working with you and your animal to help them reach their full potential and maximize their health.

RockTape Equine

We now offer functional kinesiology taping for our equine patients.  RockTape Equine is kinesiology tape designed for the unique needs of horses. It works by creating a lifting effect on the skin resulting in decompression of the subcutaneous layers beneath the tape.

Possible outcomes of decompression/lifting effect:

  • Mechanical effect: allows for better glide between tissue layers

  • Fluid effect: allows for better lymphatic and superficial blood flow

  • Neurological effect: reduces firing of pain receptors and provides alternate sensory input

  • Also improves awareness of body position

Dr. Morgan is RockTape FMT (functional movement technique) Equine certified and knows how to apply tape correctly and what application would be most beneficial for her patients.  She is excited to work with you and your horse to improve movement and overall function.  Contact us today to find out more about how chiropractic and kinesiology taping can help with your horse's health.
